Repeat Dispensing

Repeat dispensing is the name of a scheme for people who have the same regular medication every single month. It is not suitable for medication that can often change or is not required every month.

Rather than having to request your medication from the surgery every month, it is now much easier for you to just telephone your pharmacy each month and be able to collect it directly from there (or to have it delivered it if this is a service they offer).

All you need to do is complete our Electronic Prescription Service form. If you are suitable we will then issue 6 months’ worth of prescriptions to your chosen pharmacy. You then just need to telephone your pharmacy each time you need your medication before collecting it.

When you collect the last one in that 6 month batch, the pharmacy will tell you to order a new batch from the surgery which we will need in writing from you as usual, but you will only have to do this once every 6 months. This will save both you and us a lot of time and paperwork.

From 16th September 2014, Electronic Prescription Service was introduced which now makes the repeat dispensing scheme even easier by doing away with all the fiddly bits of paper. Instead we can send all your prescriptions directly to your chosen pharmacy electronically and securely in a matter of seconds. Also if there are any changes during the 6 month, we can change them immediately at the flick of a switch!
